재미한인과학기술자협회, ‘2023 수학과학 경시대회’ 성황리에 개최
재미한인과학기술자협회(KSEA)가 매년 개최하는 ‘재미한인과학기술자협회 수학과학 경시대회’가 지난 4월 15일 벨뷰컬리지에서 학생, 학부모 및 자원봉사자등 약 300명이 참여한 가운데 4년 만에 처음으로 대면으로 개최 되었다.
KSEA가 매년 커뮤니티를 위한 가장 의미 있는 행사로 주최하고 있는 수학과학 경시대회는 오전에서는 수학 경시대회, 오후에는 과학경시대회로 나누어 열렸다. 특히 학생들이 경시대회에 참여하는 동안에는 학부모들을 위한 세미나가 열려 많은 호응을 받았다.
오전에 개최된 세미나는 ‘성공적인 대학 입시를 위한 준비( How should students prepare for successful college admissions)’라는 주제로, 현재 UW 컴퓨터 사이언스 및 비즈니스 전공으로 재학중인 3명의 학생이 나와 자신의 대학 입시 준비에 관한 경험담을 나눴다.
오후에 열린 학부모 세미나에서는 AI가 미래의 교육과 직업에 끼치는 영향(AI’s Impact on Education and Job in the Future)이라는 주제로 3명의 AI 관련 분야 전문가인 UW 서수빈 교수, 김동찬 (Naver Search US) 및 안진만 (Principal Software Engineering Manager – Microsoft )씨가 강연자로 나서 AI 에 관한 이해를 도왔다.
이번 수학과학 경시대회에서는 각 학년별 1등 1명, 2등 2명 3등 3명에게 시상했으며, 9학년에서 11학년 학생들에게는 유니뱅크 장학금 500달러를 전달했다. 이외에도 장거리상, 가장 많은 가족이 참여한 가족상 및 추첨을 통해 여러 상품을 증정했다.
